i love days like this..

While my latest batch of earrings were in the kiln I spent the morning doing one of my favourite things ...drawing 'my little girl gift cards'. There is something so calming about cutting, folding, gluing and drawing that I absolutely love...

The afternoon was spent packaging my new buttons in time for the BrisStyle Indie Designer's Market. It must be time for coffee on the deck now before getting stuck into a couple more hours of work...

little washi dresses

I cut tiny pieces of Japanese paper to make my little character's dresses. I started drawing her on the bottom of letters home to my family when I lived in Japan. She changes all the time, she used to have her eyes open all the time but now they are always closed - well they look closed as if she's deep in thought or just appreciating the moment. Often as I draw her, I feel a subtle release of emotions. The more I draw her the more content I feel. I definitely can not draw her when I'm feeling rushed as her hair tends to go crazy and I can't capture the subtle emotions in her facial features - I overdraw them and then she looks like someone else.
