fun with lolly rounds...

....large lolly rounds.

These studs are a custom order and I'm really happy with how they turned out - they are so FUN! They are 2cm in diameter and to show you how much bigger they are compared to my regular studs I've taken a photo of the two side by side..

on my wish list....

These amazing bowls and plates were handmade by Jill Rosenwald. I came across Jill's work a few weeks ago when she was a Featured Seller on etsy. The colours are what first attracted me and I've been thinking about her work ever since... such beautiful colours, designs and forms.

flowers and more...

More garage sale love!! I found these antique Japanese Kenzan - flower arranging tools (used to support flowers in traditional style vases) at a garage sale recently and have been smiling ever since. Apparently a Japanese man bought them over to Australia in the 60's, they originally belonged to his grandmother!
When living in Japan I learned Ikebana (Japanese flower arranging) from one of the sweetest ladies I've ever met. We used to create an arrangement and then chat over tea & cake. I own some of the Western-style Kenzan used for Ikebana but had never seen these antique styles until I found them and absolutely LOVE them! They are now proudly displayed on our walls...one in the living room and the other in my studio.

opening night...

Tonight is the opening night of MOD SQUAD, the touring exhibition I've been involved in since it opened in February at Logan Art Gallery. Unfortunately I won't be able to make it but for those of you who are interested it's at Redcliffe City Art Gallery starting at 6pm. The exhibition will be on until May 2, it then moves to Cairns Regional Gallery, I will post again with more details closer to the opening night.

I didn't take a photo of the completed piece but have plenty of the experiments and slip ups that lead to the final piece so thought I'd share them with you now..

a tin of possibilities...

I LOVE going to garage sales! A while ago I saw this rusty, dusty tin at a local garage sale for $2, upon looking inside these lovely metal sign-writing stencils almost leaped out at me and I was sold. They live on a shelf where I can pull them down and appreciate each well used stencil whenever I fancy. Some of them still have the paint on them and almost tell a story on their own...
