broken wings and pretty weeds.

This tiny vase was a farewell gift from one of my students in Japan. It had two wings but somewhere along the line one got broken ...it's still one of the sweetest things I own and makes me smile each time I look at it.
(I photographed this back in April to share here with you but time seems to escape me. There are many things I wish to write here and will try to pop in more often... to share the small inspirations and happy moments.)

lucky me...

drawstring bag by {a creature strange}

(attention to detail)

lamp work bead by happily ever artist

and look at the handmade box it came in xx

At each of the brisStyle Indie Markets we run a raffle to raise money for a chosen charity. Each stall holder donates an item and at the end of the day the raffle is drawn. March saw us raising money for the cancer council. I was one of the lucky winners. There were 2 handmade bags filled to the brim with handmade goodness and I got to take one of them home with me. As I pulled gorgeous handmade things out of the bag I was making oohs and ahhs and little yelps of excitement. The truth is I had already had a great day being part of the market and this was the icing on the cake...

I promised myself I wouldn't enjoy using my winnings until I'd photographed everything..needless to say it's been torture walking past the chair that all these goodies have been resting on. Well today I finally got the chance...yay..When my Mum was last visiting she claimed the gorgeous handbag by Little Mary Moo but everything else..well except the lamp work bead on the key (it's already been worn several times and received many, many compliments) has been sitting, waiting to be admired again.

Besides the obvious creativity what really resonated with me was quality, packaging and great attention to detail. What an amazing group of artists, crafters and small business owners!

coffee at honeybee...

I so want to sit in that colourful courtyard with a friend and enjoy a coffee. Yesterday I sent a package of hot toffee to Wyan and the gorgeous girls at honeybee in Newcastle. Looks like a lovely shop to find that perfect gift for someone!

in the studio..

Of late I've had quite a lot of help in the hot toffee studio. Mum has been busy sewing up my little jewellery pouches and making bird garlands. Dad was a machine on my button machine making 100's of badges and magnets. On top of all the hot toffee work they did I was totally spoilt and did not cook for the whole 7 days they were staying with us. Thankyou - it was so nice to have such great company in my studio! Past the sky x

to market to market..

it's 4.40am I'm sitting here sipping on my coffee, listening to the rain on the roof. RAIN. In 20 minutes I will be heading out the door to the Boutique Markets let's hope by the time I reach Hamilton there is no sign of rain. If you are looking for something to do today why not head to Portside Wharf at Hamilton and walk through the markets which are filled with handmade treasures. 8am - 1pm. Hope to see you there!
